Day 2: Oops...

In a not so surprising turn of events, I have already messed up, and it's only Day 2 of this blog-a-thon. Today I was supposed to tell you the meaning behind my blog name, but I already did that in my first post! That's what I get for not reading the guidelines before I start things. This was almost worse than the time I tried to put my furniture together by myself without double checking the instructions. Except this time I'm not crying hysterically in the middle of floor holding a screw driver.
What I thought would happen

What really happened

Anyways....like I said before my blog title/name thingy is in reference to the cookies me and my grandmother use to make together. It was kinda our thing when I was growing up. I always wanted those cookies when I went to her house to spend the night. I was feeling nostalgic when I created the blog due to the fact I had just found my great grandmother's recipe notebook containing the Cowboy Cookie recipe! So that is where the name came from. In a way I guess it's a reference to family and a reflection on happy times....and I just realllly like those cookies!

In honor of today's post I have decided to make my blog's namesake and share the recipe with you (all 3 of you). I also have attached a picture for your viewing pleasure!

Cowboy Cookies

2 cups     flour
1/2 tsp     salt
1/2 tsp     baking powder
1 cup       shortening
1 cups      brown sugar
1 cups      white sugar
2              eggs
2 cups      oats
1 tsp         vanilla
1 pkg        chocolate chips

Sift the flour, salt, soda, and baking powder together and set aside. Cream shortening. Gradually add white and brown sugar. Add unbeat eggs. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour misture. Blend well. Mix in oats, vanilla, and chocolate chips last. Drop on to a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

I decided to come back...

Even though my sister was the only one who read my blog, I decided to come back and start Day 1!

So I think the first thing I'm supposed to do is post a recent picture of myself.

Here is me last night just going out for a night on the town.

Not buying it, huh? Okay okay.

Here I really am.

I thought about posing in front of the mirror in my slammin' new outfit or holding the camera out and doing a kissy face but I decided to just go with this picture from the Garth Brooks concert. I borrowed that hat from the extremely intoxicated guy in front of me during "Friends in Low Places".

Now I'm supposed to tell you 15 fun facts about myself. It's okay to silently judge me while reading these, I am probably going to regret telling you anyways.

15. I cannot ride a bike. I use to be able to ride a bike, but I can't now. I tried the other day in the aisle at Walmart...I had to leave after an incident that I shouldn't talk about until the statute of limitations expires.
14. I love milk. I could drink if with every meal if it tasted right with everything.

13. Oreos are God's gift to the world. I mean after that whole Jesus thing of course! Dunking an Oreo into a glass of milk can make any day better!

12. My vehicle is better than yours :-)

11. I love love love David's Pizza. I don't think there is any better pizza around!

10. I use to be a pretty pretty princess. I know, I know...the cowboy hat and the jacked up Jeep do not fit that description. But I use to be a toddler in a tiara, just without the attitude. See below for proof!

9. I really like to workout. I just get a little lazy sometimes. I do better when I have a partner to yell at me and motivate me lol

8. My favorite color is green. <---see what I did there.

7. I only wear New Balance tennis shoes. I don't know why. I just like them a lot better than any other brand of tennis shoes!

6. If I could eat one snack every day for the rest of my life it would junior mints! They are deliciously refreshing!

4.Forrest Gump is the best movie on the planet. Don't try and argue that fact with me. I will win. I could watch it everyday while eating Oreos and drinking milk.

5. I am a Buckle jean snob. I wish I wasn't but they fit so perfectly! I honestly think the little Chinese child who made them for 5 cents an hour made them just for me.

See, even she is proud of herself!

 3. My newest past time is baking. I have become the crazy cookbook lady. I carry one around in my purse flipping through it to find things to bake. I am a picky baker though. I only bake things I like to eat! I hate cheesecake but lots of people like it. I couldn't make a cheesecake and then give it to someone else to try without first trying it myself! So I just stick to things I like so I can taste it too :-)

2. It is my personal opinion that Garth Brooks walks this earth to make me happy. Some have said I am border line obsessed. I have no comment.

On a side note, I actually own this picture signed and everything.

1. I know everyone says this, but my most interesting fact is that I have awesome family and friends. God truly blessed me with the people He put in my life.

Alrighty, well Day 1 is complete! I have absolutely no idea what tomorrow is so I'm going to have to research that a little bit. I hope it doesn't involve me having to come up with more facts about myself because that was about it. Until next time.... I am determined to come up with a catchy exiting line. Maybe tomorrow!

Testing the Waters

Good 'ay mates! Cheerio! Hi y'all! Well, this is off to a great start! Sadly, those were the first three greetings that popped into my head. I could have erased them but what fun is there in that?

Hello, my name is Courtney, and I'm blogging illiterate. *pause for you to welcome me*. My sister, Meredith, started the 30 Day Blog thingy and so I decided to fulfill my duties as the younger sister and copy her. However, I did not realize how difficult it was going to be! I had to pick a name, colors, and templates! I almost gave up 5 minutes into it to be honest. But here I am, typing away!

I'm not really sure if this is the day I am supposed to post a picture and 15 interesting facts or if that is tomorrow, so today I think I'll just ramble and start all that other stuff tomorrow. I guess right now I should tell you about my blog name/heading/thingy. It's hard for me to tell you why I chose that as my title. It's kind of long and complicated! There is a song called "Who I Am" by Jessica Andrews. Here is the chorus. I'll finish my explanation after you read them.

I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done
My momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends who love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

Other than the fact that my grandmother's name was not Rosemary this song fits me to a "T". I thought "Who I Am" was a terrible blog title along with any other line in this song, so I just went with Cowboy Cookies because I really like them and me and my grandmother use to bake them together all the time. My explanation was not very good plus it's a run-on sentence but it makes perfect sense to me! I wish I could explain it better to you, but my brain is tired.

I think I have sufficiently bored you with my lameness so I am probably going to wrap this up for tonight. Bye. See ya next time.
